Father’s Devotion Shines at Baba Nagri with Infant in Hand
The annual Shravan fair in Deoghar witnessed a moving display of paternal love intertwined with spiritual surrender. A man from Muzaffarpur, accompanied by his two‑month‑old daughter, set out from Sultanganj on a traditional dandvat pilgrimage, pulling a small wooden cart bound by rope.
Having asked Lord Shiva for the gift of a daughter, the pilgrim felt compelled to thank the deity after his prayer was fulfilled. He chose the most challenging path—walking barefoot on hot embers—believing it would convey the depth of his gratitude.
Local worshippers and travelers lined the streets of Baba Nagri, offering garlands and prayers. Their emotional response turned a simple act of thanks into a powerful narrative of faith, love, and sacrifice, underscoring why the Shravan Mela remains a cornerstone of cultural and religious expression in the region.
