Family and Officials Pay Tribute as Statue of Tribal Leader Shibu Soren Revealed

A large crowd gathered in Nemra, Ramgarh, to honor the memory of Shibu Soren, a Padma Bhushan recipient and stalwart of the tribal movement. The event marked his first puṇyati, during which Chief Minister Hemant Soren unveiled a life‑size statue. The chief minister asked his mother, Rupi Soren, to lift the drape, exposing the bronze figure.

The family performed a ceremonial wreath‑laying, and senior officials, including state ministers, senior bureaucrats, and a Rajya Sabha MP, paid homage. The gathering emphasized Soren’s legacy in championing tribal rights, education, and regional development. The statue now stands as a permanent reminder of his contributions to Jharkhand’s history.
