Environment and Road Ministries Given Six Weeks to Respond in Jharkhand Tree Case

Both the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways have been named as parties to the proceedings. The court ordered each ministry to file a written response within six weeks, outlining their position on the proposed tree removal. The state government informed the bench that, under the current alignment, the project would require the felling of 13,681 mature trees, all of which are classified as fully grown and ecologically valuable.
