The Shravan Mela in Devghar presented a moving tableau when a Muzaffarpur father arrived with his infant daughter in a small wooden carriage.

He had tied a sturdy rope to the cart and was walking a dandavat route, pulling the vehicle himself. The pilgrimage started from Sultanganj and spanned many kilometres of road, undertaken as thanks for the blessing of a daughter.
