Dumka sees 93.2 mm rain in 24 hours as temperatures swing to extremes

In a striking 24‑hour window, Dumka district’s Gopikandar area recorded 93.2 mm of rainfall, the highest single‑day total across Jharkhand. The same period coincided with the state’s temperature apex, as Dumka touched 33.6 °C.

Meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature of the season was logged at Latae‑har, where thermometers fell to 20.4 °C. These contrasting weather conditions illustrate the variability of the monsoon season in the region.

Overall monsoon totals for the state remain slightly below average, with 859.8 mm recorded against the expected 890.6 mm. Western Singhbhum continues to dominate rainfall statistics, while Pakur lags significantly behind the norm.
