District orders closure of every school in Ranchi for Saturday
The district administration of Ranchi announced that every school in the region will remain closed on Saturday due to an impending heavy rain alert. The order, endorsed by the District Magistrate and Additional Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantari, encompasses schools receiving government aid, minority institutions and private establishments from KG to XII.
Both the India Meteorological Department and the state weather centre have placed Ranchi under a yellow alert, predicting significant rainfall.
Even with the closure, teachers and non‑academic staff in government schools must register their attendance via the e‑Vidyavahini portal and fulfil assigned non‑teaching responsibilities.
If an exam has been pre‑scheduled, the principal is empowered to decide its feasibility. Non‑adherence to the order can lead to penalties under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
