Dhanbad Cracks Down: Show-Cause to 239 Absent Polling Staff

Dhanbad's election machinery is leaving no room for complacency ahead of the 2026 general municipal elections. Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan, doubling as the District Election Officer for municipalities, has slapped show-cause notices on 239 workers who skipped the inaugural training camp.

Designated as polling team members, these personnel received their deployment orders much earlier. Despite clear instructions, they did not turn up for the session aimed at familiarizing them with election protocols and procedures.

Labeling the absence as a blatant display of irresponsibility and dereliction of duty, the DC pointed out its implications on constitutional duties. Training is non-negotiable for anyone involved in managing polls, he asserted.

A strict 24-hour deadline has been set for the absentees to furnish detailed justifications to the personnel department. This proactive step aims to instill discipline and accountability among election staff.

As preparations intensify, such measures are crucial to avert disruptions. The administration's firm stance is expected to motivate full participation in subsequent training rounds, fortifying the groundwork for seamless elections.
