Devghar Braces for Unprecedented Faith Flood on Monday

The holy town of Devgarh is preparing for an extraordinary gathering of faith on the forthcoming Monday, as Kanwar pilgrims from Sultanganj and surrounding regions rush to the Baba Baidyanath shrine with sacred water. The influx follows a light rain on Sunday, which provided a welcome respite to the travelers and renewed their enthusiasm for the pilgrimage.

A comprehensive safety plan was rolled out by Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuwaniya, who toured the Kanwar path, the temple's main gates, and the provisional shelters. Officials issued clear directives to on‑ground staff regarding crowd regulation, medical assistance, and sanitation protocols.

In a briefing held the previous Saturday, officials projected participation of more than two lakh devotees for the Monday "Jalaarpan" ceremony. Accordingly, security forces have heightened surveillance, and logistical arrangements for drinking water, waste management, and emergency response have been finalized.

By Sunday evening, thousands of Kanwaris had already entered Devgarh's perimeter, forming a sea of devotion that signaled an historic event. Law enforcement and district officers stand ready to facilitate a safe and orderly water‑offering ritual for all attendees.
