Devghar-Babadham Pilgrims in Van Accident, Many Hurt
A religious convoy returning from a puja at Devghar-Babadham met with a tragic overturn near the Machhiyad bridge in Giridih's Tisri area on Tuesday. The pickup van, filled with ten kanwariyas, lost stability and flipped.
Both the driver and eight devotees were hospitalized with serious injuries. Villagers assisted police in extricating the injured, who were then taken to the Tisri health centre for urgent care and later referred for advanced treatment.
Names released by officials are Mantoo Kumar, Jitan Yadav, Pratima Devi, Meena Devi, Suman Raj, Chinta Devi, Meera Devi, Chunnu Kumar, Piyush Kumar and Gautam Kumar, residents of Rajgir and Baishali, Bihar, on a pilgrimage to offer water to Baba Baidyanath.
The incident has prompted a formal inquiry to determine the exact cause of the vehicle's overturn.
