Daughter of Simdega, Preeti Kujur, Who Was Stranded in Oman, Safely Returned Home Following CM's Instructions
Ranchi Following instructions from Chief Minister Hemant Soren regarding the case of migrant worker Ms. Preeti Kujur from Simdega, who was facing difficulties in Oman (Muscat), the State Migrant Worker Control Room, operating under the Labour Commissioner's office of the Department of Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development, coordinated with the Indian Embassy (Muscat) and ensured the safe return of the young woman. Ms. Preeti departed for India on August 1, 2026, and will reach her home in Jharkhand on August 2, 2026.
Administration Acted Promptly on CM's Order
Upon learning of the matter through social media, the Chief Minister took it very seriously and directed the State Migrant Worker Control Room to resolve the issue immediately and ensure the safe return of the victimized young woman. Following the Chief Minister's order, the Control Room promptly forwarded the case to the Protector of Emigrants (POE), Ranchi, and the Indian Embassy (Muscat) on June 23, 2026. Subsequently, the Embassy contacted Ms. Preeti on June 24.
Victim Lured by a Fake Agent
Mr. Rantu Kujur, a resident of Mararoma Ganjhutoli in the Thethaitangar block of Simdega district, sought help regarding his sister, Preeti Kujur, on June 19, 2026. In March 2026, an agent from India had lured her with a promise of earning ₹45,000-₹50,000 per month in Dubai and sent her abroad, but deceitfully sent her to Oman instead. There, she was made to work for only ₹23,000-₹25,000. When she expressed a desire to return to India, the company owner demanded a large sum of money and did not send her back even after receiving ₹1.92 lakh from her family.
Negotiated Reduced Payment and Documents Returned
The company owner was demanding 950 Omani Riyals for her return before the completion of her 2-year contract. The Control Room wrote to the Indian Embassy, informing them of the victim's weak financial condition and requesting assistance in reducing the payment and returning her original documents. Through negotiations, the company owner agreed to reduce the demanded amount to 600 Omani Riyals. After depositing the money, the owner returned Preeti Kujur's passport and all other original documents.
