GODDA, Jharkhand: A shocking attempted robbery at the Bank of India in Meharma has left one security personnel critically injured and the district on high alert. The midday assault exposed glaring vulnerabilities in financial institution security across rural India.
Around 2 PM, three to four masked men armed with firearms burst into the bank branch, demanding cash and threatening staff. The vigilant security guard immediately challenged the intruders, triggering a fierce gun battle that lasted less than two minutes.
“The guard fought bravely and prevented a major disaster,” said a senior police officer at the scene. One bullet struck the guard in the shoulder, causing severe bleeding. Quick action by bank employees ensured his immediate transfer to Sadar Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
