Court Orders Formation of Independent Committee to Review JPSC Exam
The Supreme Court, reviewing a public interest petition filed by Harishran Devgan, has directed the Jharkhand Public Service Commission to set up an independent oversight committee for the Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025. The committee is to be chaired by a retired judge of the Supreme Court or a retired chief justice from a high court outside the state, and must include specialists in forensic analysis, information technology, exam security, OMR evaluation, cyber security and public administration. The order also mandates that the Central Bureau of Investigation conduct a time‑bound, impartial inquiry into allegations of answer‑sheet tampering and scoring anomalies that surfaced after the July 2, 2026 result declaration. The court further instructed that any re‑conducted examination be held under its supervision, with an external audit of coding, evaluation, OMR scanning and result compilation.
