In the heated discussions of Jharkhand’s budget session, Chief Minister Hemant Soren dropped a major policy bombshell: the state will soon have its own Organ Donation Commission. Speaking Friday during the Governor’s address debate, Soren positioned this as a key step toward life-saving reforms.
Evoking emotion, he recounted the heroic act of a toddler’s parents. Little Alam Jeli Abraham, just 10 months old, was declared brain dead following an accident. Her mother Sarin An John and father Anil Abraham chose to donate her organs, turning personal tragedy into hope for others. Soren praised their valor as a call to action.
The new commission aims to streamline organ donation processes, boost awareness, and ensure transplants reach those desperate for them. ‘We’ll prioritize saving lives and promoting this noble cause,’ the CM vowed.
Beyond health initiatives, Soren celebrated a historic first – no opposition amendments to the Governor’s speech in 25 years. It signals growing public endorsement of government progress.
‘Other states are now emulating Jharkhand’s models,’ he boasted, flipping the script on past dynamics. He slammed ‘double-engine’ governments while defending his coalition’s resilience amid limited resources.
The opposition, Soren charged, lacks intent to listen or collaborate, intimidated by real results. He envisioned Jharkhand as a 2050 powerhouse, driven by rural empowerment: ‘Villages first, then the state thrives.’
With promises to elevate the state globally and deliver on pledges to 3.5 crore residents, Soren ended on a defiant note. The assembly adjourned to Saturday.
