Jamshedpur’s chess whiz kid Adhiraj Mitra had an inspiring encounter with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday. The under-14 gold medal winner at the 2025 Commonwealth Chess Championship in Malaysia visited the CM’s Kanke Road office to share his journey of triumph.
During the interaction, Adhiraj detailed the high-stakes competition in Malaysia, where he outmaneuvered elite players from across Commonwealth countries. A proud eighth-grader from Loyola School, he credited his family’s support and coach Abhishek Das for his victory. His parents, Runa and Uttam Mitra, were by his side, beaming with pride.
The Chief Minister lauded the young prodigy’s feat, noting how Jharkhand’s sports stars are elevating the state’s reputation worldwide. He wished Adhiraj continued success, emphasizing the role of such achievements in motivating the youth.
