He argued that the central law, intended for major minerals such as coal and iron ore, is being misused by the state. A newly imposed tax of ₹ 400 per tonne on coal, he warned, will raise the cost of coal from the Lalmatia mines by ₹ 12,000 per 30‑ton shipment, pushing buyers to source from West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Odisha or abroad. The resultant loss, he said, could devastate Jharkhand’s mineral‑based economy.
