JDU Claims Congress Losing Ally Trust Over Farm Bill Stance
Patna, July 18 – Rajiv Ranjan, spokesperson for the Janata Dal (United), accused the Congress of alienating regional allies over its position on the contentious farm bill legislation.
He outlined how the party contests elections against the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, holds divergent views with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, faces a direct showdown with the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, and engages in political battles against left parties in Kerala. According to Ranjan, these confrontations have eroded the confidence of its partner parties.
Ranjan asserted that regional parties are no longer prepared to heed Congress’s calls for unity on issues such as the farm bills, rendering any attempt to forge a cohesive opposition front ineffective.
He emphasized that the persistent lack of coordination among opposition forces weakens the democratic challenge to the ruling government, ultimately benefiting the incumbent National Democratic Alliance led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The JD(U) spokesperson concluded that unless Congress reshapes its strategy and rebuilds trust with allies, its relevance in shaping national policy will continue to diminish.
