Japanese Self‑Defense Force deploys C‑2 transports and F‑2 jets to India

Two C‑2 strategic transport aircraft and a contingent of F‑2 fighter jets belonging to Japan’s Air Self‑Defense Force touched down at Jodhpur Air Force Station as part of the “Veer Guardian 2026” exercise. The C‑2s delivered personnel, spare parts, and training equipment, enabling the rapid set‑up of joint training facilities.

The arrival of the Japanese air contingent signals a high‑level commitment to sharing advanced aerospace capabilities with India. Throughout the drill, Indian and Japanese crews will execute joint sorties, practise aerial refuelling drills, and simulate combat engagements designed to test readiness and coordination in varied operational environments.

These activities are expected to improve the two nations’ ability to conduct combined operations, especially in scenarios that demand swift deployment and synchronized strike capabilities.
