Janmashtami 2024: Moon in Taurus and Rohini Nakshatra Mirror Ancient Timing

A special astrological configuration is set to bless Janmashtami this year, according to Mahant Surendra Nath Avadhut, the chief of Kalakaji Temple in New Delhi. The Moon’s placement in Vrishabha (Taurus) together with Rohini nakshatra replicates the sky at the moment of Lord Krishna’s birth during the Dwapara Yuga.

The priest explained that such a coincidence amplifies the sanctity of the festival, scheduled for September 4. Devotees will observe fasts throughout the day and participate in a midnight ritual where the deity is offered food, which is later consumed as blessed prasadam.

The muhurat window opens from 11:05 a.m. to 12:35 p.m., providing a precise timeframe for performing the rites. Kalakaji Temple and other Krishna shrines in the city are finalising elaborate decorations and logistical plans to welcome the influx of worshippers.

The alignment has sparked enthusiasm among believers, who view the convergence of celestial bodies as a divine endorsement of the celebrations.
