Video of alleged student abuse in Jamui raises alarm, arrests follow and commission seeks report

Patna, September 21 – A video that surfaced on social platforms, depicting alleged abuse of two schoolchildren in Jamui’s outskirts, triggered a rapid law‑enforcement response. Within hours of the clip’s circulation, the police apprehended three suspects linked to the incident. The state Women’s Commission, led by chairperson Apra, took immediate cognizance and issued a formal letter to the Superintendent of Police for a status update.

According to the commission, the video emerged on the evening of September 19, showing a Class‑10 boy and girl being confronted by a group of youths. The victims were identified through the scooter’s license plate, after which authorities recorded an FIR and began investigation.

Apra commended the District Magistrate of Jamui and the SP for their promptness, describing the swift arrests as “admirable.” She also indicated that the commission is ready to visit the location and meet the victims to better understand the circumstances.

The Women’s Commission has now requested a detailed, updated report from the district administration. Based on the information received, the commission will decide on any further actions required to ensure justice and prevent recurrence.
