Jammu & Kashmir Sees Early Snow Across High Valleys, Officials Warn

The first seasonal snow has fallen across several elevated regions of Jammu and Kashmir, including the famed Gulmarg ski slope, Jojila Pass, Rajdan Pass, and Sinthan Top. The sudden chill caused maximum temperatures to dip to 20°C in Srinagar, while the hill stations recorded lows near 12°C. The weather department forecast additional rain and snow for the next 24 hours but predicts a clear upturn from the afternoon of October 15. Farmers were reminded to store harvested cereals and apples safely, as strong winds and showers may still affect the highlands. Meanwhile, locals have begun wearing woolen garments, especially the traditional twill "firen" fabric.
