Jalna’s Farmers Report 15-20% Yield Rise Thanks to Solar Pump

A recent field survey in Jalna’s arid belt shows that farmers who have adopted solar‑powered pumps through the PM‑KUSUM scheme are enjoying harvests that are 15 to 20 per cent larger than those relying on conventional diesel or erratic electricity.

Bharat Shinde, who cultivates sweet lemon and mosambi, attributes the surge to the pump’s ability to deliver water consistently even when the state grid falters. With uninterrupted irrigation, his trees receive the right amount of moisture at critical growth stages, reducing stress and boosting fruit size.

The solar pump also integrates a mobile‑app controller, allowing Shinde to turn the system on or off from his phone. This remote capability helps conserve energy during cloudy periods and prevents over‑watering, further protecting crop health.

Local agricultural officers report that the yield uplift is not isolated to Shinde’s plot; nearby farms that installed similar units have recorded comparable gains. The collective improvement is beginning to reshape the economic outlook for the region, which historically grappled with low productivity due to water and power constraints.
