The Jal Jeevan Mission, a flagship scheme aimed at providing piped water connections to rural households, has come under intense scrutiny after allegations of contract fraud, fake documentation, undue benefits to select firms and bribery surfaced. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Joshi in April 2025 on money‑laundering charges linked to the scam. After a seven‑month detention, the Supreme Court granted him regular bail on December 3, 2025. On May 7, 2026, the ACB re‑arrested Joshi from his Jaipur residence in a separate corruption case involving tenders exceeding 900 crore rupees. Both the ED and ACB continue to probe the quality of materials used and the overall procurement process.
