In a fiery address in Patna, BJP parliamentarian Sanjay Jaiswal declared that West Bengal’s electorate will deliver retribution to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her alleged disrespect towards President Droupadi Murmu. Jaiswal alleged that Banerjee’s hostility stems solely from Murmu’s tribal origins, exposing a troubling bias.
The spat traces back to President Murmu’s public frustration with alterations to a program venue in Bengal, prompting a full-throated BJP backlash. Jaiswal, during a media interaction, didn’t hold back: ‘Banerjee’s barbs and protocol violations scream her intolerance for an Adivasi educator from Odisha occupying Rashtrapati Bhavan.’
He warned that such conduct unveils Banerjee’s true character, predicting a public backlash. ‘India’s citizens won’t forgive this affront to their President,’ Jaiswal vowed.
Echoing his sentiments online, Jaiswal decried the TMC government’s overstep. ‘Disrespecting President Murmu and tribal emotions is shameful. The presidency stands above partisan games—its prestige demands unwavering respect. Banerjee’s lowly tactics have undermined democratic norms,’ his X post read.
On a positive note, Jaiswal endorsed Nishant Kumar’s political debut, son of Bihar’s Chief Minister. ‘Politics needs more learned voices like his to refine its intellectual edge. We welcome all good people,’ he encouraged.
Marking International Women’s Day, Jaiswal highlighted women’s inspirational roles everywhere. ‘From homes to the nation, their impact is matchless. Today, let’s strengthen pledges for women’s respect, safety, and empowerment. Warm wishes to every woman,’ he signed off.
