Jaipur municipal election: Congress says voters ready for a shift

The Jaipur municipal corporation election is shaping up as a decisive contest, according to Congress coordinator Sunil Sharma. He asserted that the city's electorate has grown weary of the incumbent government's three‑year tenure, pointing to unaddressed civic issues such as persistent potholes and rising utility costs.

Sharma painted a vivid picture of Congress rallies that attract tens of thousands of supporters, contrasting it with the BJP's modest gatherings of only a few hundred. He emphasized that even senior party functionaries – the chief minister, the state president, and cabinet members – have struggled to mobilise a crowd comparable to Congress.

Highlighting a series of alleged financial irregularities, Sharma accused the administration of misappropriating funds through smart‑meter billing and inflated electricity charges, claiming a loss of 1,393 crore rupees so far.

The congress leader warned that the ruling party is attempting to disrupt the election by targeting Congress councillors, prompting the party to secure a 120‑room resort for its candidates as a protective measure. He appealed to voters to cast a unified vote for Congress, forecasting a near‑total victory for the party in the upcoming polls.
