Tensions in the Middle East have not deterred the Indian LPG ship ‘Jag Vikram’ from safely transiting the Strait of Hormuz. New Delhi announced Saturday that the India-registered tanker, carrying 20,400 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas and manned by 24 crew members, has passed the strategic waterway and is headed to Mumbai, due around April 15.

As maritime security tightens in the Gulf, Indian authorities report all personnel on board are secure, with zero incidents linked to Indian ships over the last day. The Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Ministry highlighted round-the-clock surveillance via the dedicated Shipping Control Room, which has processed thousands of communications—5,973 calls and 12,675 emails total, 128 calls and 319 emails just yesterday.

Through the Directorate General of Shipping, over 2,009 Indian mariners have been repatriated safely, including 81 in the recent 24 hours. Port activities across India remain normal, free from delays or pile-ups.

Intensive collaboration with the External Affairs Ministry, overseas missions, and industry players is ensuring uninterrupted operations and seafarer protection. In the Gulf and West Asia, Indian diplomatic posts are actively supporting the diaspora with updates and aid.

New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation, forging strong ties with states and territories to handle any contingencies. This coordinated response highlights India’s robust maritime safety framework amid global uncertainties.
