Investigation Launched into Suspected Illicit Liquor Deaths in Patna, Officials Warn of Strict Action

Authorities in Patna’s flood subdivision have launched a formal inquiry after four deaths were reported in Bedhna village, allegedly linked to poisonous alcohol consumption. Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha arrived on the ground, met with grieving relatives, and collected first‑hand accounts of the incident.

Villagers voiced strong suspicion that a locally brewed, unregistered liquor caused the sudden deterioration in health of the victims. In response, the minister ordered immediate post‑mortem examinations for all four bodies to determine the precise cause of death.

“The post‑mortem report will be the decisive factor,” Sinha declared, adding that any confirmation of tainted liquor will trigger the toughest possible prosecution. He instructed the Sub‑Divisional Magistrate to supervise a rigorous, impartial probe.

The minister also engaged with the district’s senior police official and the collector, urging a swift crackdown on illegal alcohol networks. He warned that any individual found complicit in the production or distribution of such hazardous drinks will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Expressing sincere sympathy for the victims’ families, Sinha assured them that the administration will leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth and delivering justice.
