Investigation Reveals Scheme Targeting Poultry Farmers in Uttar Pradesh

A recent CBI investigation has uncovered a widespread fraud targeting poultry farmers in Uttar Pradesh. The perpetrator, pretending to be an officer from the Agriculture Building in Delhi, approached borrowers seeking funds under the Livestock Infrastructure Development Fund.

The scheme began when a farmer from Lalpur, Kashi‑pur tehsil, filed a loan application for Rs 22.5 lakh. The fake official contacted him, demanding a 2 percent commission of Rs 45,000 to facilitate loan approval. The farmer transferred Rs 5,000 via UPI, after which the suspect disappeared.

CBI’s anti‑corruption division logged the complaint on June 29 and launched an operation that led to the arrest of an associate on June 30. However, the primary offender continued to exploit the system, using his access to loan records to coax numerous applicants into paying similar fees.

Digital surveillance traced the suspect’s activity across Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, revealing frequent changes of phone numbers and locations. A tip on July 19 pinpointed his return to his ancestral village of Chhota Putha Bisrana in Agra district. The CBI team seized the suspect, searched his home, and recovered falsified paperwork and financial records. The investigation remains ongoing, with the accused set to appear before a Dehradun court.
