Investigation Reveals Use of Rented Venue Car in Rewari Armed Robbery
A detailed probe by the Rewari police has exposed that the perpetrators of a recent armed robbery in the IMT Bawul sector rented a venue car from a local operator. The criminals misled the vehicle owner by claiming they were traveling to see Khatu Shyam, a ruse that allowed them to acquire the car without suspicion.
The rented automobile was later used to intercept a company employee, force him into the vehicle, and execute a forced mobile‑phone theft followed by an online fund transfer of ₹24,000. After the theft, the gang abandoned the victim near a pump house in Dulheda Khurd Nahar and fled the scene.
Law enforcement officials recovered the vehicle, a desi katha, and other evidence after stopping the car near the Aswal flyover. The suspects, including Mohit and Kamal, were apprehended during a brief foot chase; Mohit suffered a leg injury after falling into a pit.
Subsequent interrogations revealed that the rented car was part of a larger network of illicit activities, with the driver having a history of involvement in multiple looting cases. The police have now linked the vehicle rental scheme to a string of robberies across the Bawul district, prompting tighter checks on temporary vehicle hires.
The case underscores the importance of vigilant monitoring of rental services and rapid police action in intercepting criminal plans before they unfold.
