Investigation Reveals Bribery Network in CGPSC Exams 2020‑21

The Enforcement Directorate’s recent operation has exposed a sophisticated bribery ring that allegedly compromised the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) state service examinations for the years 2020 and 2021.

Key figures identified in the probe include former Chief Minister's Office (CMO) Officer on Special Duty Chetan Borgharia, erstwhile CGPSC chairman Taman Singh Sonawani, and a business syndicate comprising Utkars Chandrakar, Anil Chandrakar and Dr. Vikas Chandrakar.

According to the ED, the Chandrakar trio extracted more than ₹3 crore from hopeful candidates in return for pre‑leaked question papers and assured selection through the influence of Borgharia’s position in the CMO.

The investigation uncovered that a group of candidates were first gathered at the Siddhi Vinayak Marriage Palace in Raipur ahead of the preliminary examination, where the alleged leaked papers were distributed. These aspirants were subsequently moved to the Baranwara Century Resort for intensive coaching that relied on the stolen material.

Financial scrutiny revealed that Borgharia’s bank accounts received 170 cash deposits totaling ₹66.64 lakh during the relevant period. Forensic analysis of seized digital devices produced messages that discussed fund transfers and repayment terms between Borgharia and Utkars Chandrakar.

Further evidence points to the possible use of M/S Figarev E‑Com (OPC) Private Ltd for layering and moving the proceeds, suggesting a multi‑layered money‑laundering operation.

The Special PMLA Court in Raipur has authorized a six‑day extension of Borgharia’s custody to facilitate deeper interrogation. The Enforcement Directorate emphasizes that the investigation remains ongoing, with additional arrests and raids expected as the probe expands.
