Investigation Launched Following Social Media Outcry Over Mandla Traffic Officer
After a video of a Mandla traffic constable’s odd behavior at a crowded signal went viral, the Madhya Pradesh police announced a suspension and a probe. The clip shows the officer speaking through a microphone to motorists and pedestrians, prompting viewers to question whether he was intoxicated while on duty.
Police have not validated the intoxication allegation but have ordered a detailed examination of the circumstances. Additional Superintendent of Police Shiv Kumar Verma said senior leadership reviewed the footage and acted swiftly to suspend the officer. The constable had been posted at Chilman Chowk for nearly two years.
The incident has ignited debate about police conduct on the roads. The Sub-Divisional Officer of Police will lead the investigation, and station in-charges have been instructed to monitor staff behavior closely to prevent similar occurrences.
