Investigation Expands to Tech Firms and Property Seizure

A nationwide investigative agency intensified its probe on October 9, 2026, by raiding ten locations across West Bengal and Odisha. The operation is connected to the alleged compromise of question papers for the 2024 Sub‑Inspector recruitment examination in Odisha.

The background of the case lies in an FIR recorded by Odisha police in October 2025. On September 30, 2025, police stopped three buses near the border town of Ichapuram, detaining 114 aspirants. Allegations claim that the candidates were handed the exam papers for the October 5‑6, 2025 test in exchange for payments between 1.5 and 3 million rupees.

The matter was escalated to a central investigative agency, which now suspects that personnel linked to the exam‑conducting bodies colluded with the candidates. These intermediaries reportedly offered the papers for cash while retaining the candidates' original certificates as guarantee.

The latest raids also enveloped two private technology firms—Silicon Techlab Private Ltd. and Panchsoft Technology Private Ltd.—their directors and associated persons, signaling a broader network under scrutiny.

Earlier, on October 8, the agency seized immovable assets valued at 567.45 crore rupees from a corporation involved in a massive 48,000‑crore agricultural land development venture. The properties in Maharashtra were confiscated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
