Investigation Expands as Police Probe Drone Use and RAF Assault in Delhi

Delhi's law enforcement agencies have broadened their probe after ten FIRs were lodged concerning the violence surrounding the Cockroach Public Party (CJP) demonstration that reached the Parliament precinct on July 22. Four reports originated from the Parliament Road police station, three from the CP station, with additional individual FIRs filed at Temple Road, Barakhamba Road and Duty Path locations.

One FIR specifically charges an illegal drone flight within the high‑security envelope of the parliamentary area, an act carried out without formal approval during the session. A second FIR relates to a filmed assault on a Rapid Action Force (RAF) officer, where the soldier was beaten, the vehicle was struck with stones and property damage was inflicted.

The police have classified the suspects as unknown and are scrutinising a massive pool of evidence, including over 250 video recordings sourced from mobile devices, CCTV networks, drone-mounted cameras and body‑worn video equipment. Specialized teams are tasked with identifying and apprehending those responsible for the disturbances.

This wave of legal action follows a large‑scale protest the previous day, where thousands demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister over alleged paper leaks and examination anomalies. Protestors marched from Jantar Mantar toward the Parliament, broke through barricades and engaged in violent encounters with security forces, resulting in injuries to dozens of police personnel and several demonstrators.
