Investigation Finds Discrepancies in Badrinath Temple Donations, Treasurer Relocated

Chamonix, July 15 – BKTC’s chief executive officer, Soham Singh Rangad, confirmed that the committee’s treasurer has been transferred after an internal investigation highlighted gaps between physical donations and recorded entries.

The probe uncovered that the quantity of silver items secured in a double‑locked store was higher than what the ledger indicated. Rangad suggested that this could be a clerical slip, though the excess of metals and jewellery over logged amounts raises the possibility of overwritten records.

Given the delicate nature of the matter, the decision was taken to move the treasurer to another position within the organization.

The CEO also dismissed allegations that donated laptops and ambulances had disappeared. He stated that three ambulances were under the committee’s control: one was deemed beyond repair and auctioned in 2016, another was formally handed over to the Chief Medical Officer in Rudraprayag, and the third remains stationed at Ukhimath. The laptops were distributed among employees and are still accounted for.

A four‑member departmental team has concluded its review of the alleged misappropriation of pilgrim offerings, submitting an 18‑page dossier that indicates multiple instances of theft.
