Investigation Continues as Two Charged in Dhanbad Killing of Suspected Thief
The Dhanbad district police have charged two men in connection with the murder of a young man suspected of house‑breaking. The victim, Karan Kumar of Jagjivan Nagar, was found badly injured on August 1 near a jamun tree, prompting a rapid police response.
After being stabilized at Shree Nirmal Mahato Medical College, Kumar was shifted to a private facility on Balipura Road, where he later died from his injuries. Police statements indicate that Kanhai Lal Bhatta Charya claimed Kumar entered his home with theft intentions. Upon confrontation, Bhatta Charya and his associate Shiv Prakash began a vicious beating, soon joined by onlookers.
Both suspects have been placed under custody, and the judicial process has been initiated. The investigation remains active as authorities seek to identify any further accomplices. Law‑enforcement officials have warned that every individual involved will face strict legal action.
