Heatwave persists in interior Tamil Nadu while coastal areas stay near seasonal norms

The interior districts of Tamil Nadu continue to grapple with intense heat, as temperatures are projected to be about three degrees Celsius above normal through July 21. In contrast, coastal zones including Chennai, Puducherry and Karikal are expected to see temperatures hovering around the seasonal mean.

Maximum temperatures in the interior may spike, compounding the already high humidity levels. The weather department urges people in the hottest zones to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heat periods.

Meanwhile, the coastal belt will experience partly cloudy conditions with a chance of light evening rain, offering modest respite from the day‑time heat.
