First Integrated AI Control Room to Monitor Pilgrims at Baba Vaidyanath Temple
For the first time in the history of the Shravan Mela, an integrated AI‑based control room will be installed to oversee pilgrim traffic and crowd density at the Baba Vaidyanath Temple. The command centre will receive live feeds from drones, smart CCTV units and ground sensors placed across the temple complex, queue routes, railway stations and major intersections.
Real‑time analytics will enable operators to detect bottlenecks instantly and dispatch security units to manage the flow. The AI system will also flag any unauthorized entry of mobile phones into the sanctum, a rule strictly enforced during the fair.
A new foot over‑bridge, slated for trial on July 20, will separate VIP and regular queues, reducing pressure on the main procession lane. Additional security layers include 14,000 extra personnel from district police, armed forces, rapid action forces and disaster response teams.
The city has banned double‑decker Kamari vehicles and is laying sand along the pilgrim path from Dumma Border to Khijuriya to ensure a stable walking surface. Power poles are being moved to clear the route, and a sprawling tent city equipped with ventilation, fire safety, sanitation and reliable electricity is being set up for pilgrim accommodation.
Health infrastructure will be reinforced with 24‑hour medical camps, Toto‑ambulance services for rapid evacuation, and comprehensive facilities for water, medicines, temporary toilets, bathing areas and uninterrupted power supply.
