Inquiry Ordered into X‑Ray Machine Costs and Unused Covid Supplies

Delhi's health department has launched an internal review of the acquisition of X‑ray machines and other medical gear bought during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh asked the Health Secretary to verify whether the three X‑ray units purchased for Rs 33 million could have been obtained at Rs 10 million each, and if the cheaper models would meet the same specifications and be from the same manufacturers.

Singh also demanded a list of equipment procured for pandemic response that remain unused and have been discarded, emphasizing the need for accountability in emergency spending.

The review will also cover actions taken against 15 suppliers that the Anti‑Corruption Branch cited in 2024 for alleged irregularities.
