Injured Suspect Vikas Kumar Arrested after Shootout in Chhatra Border Area

The confrontation took place along the boundary of the Tandwa and Piparwar police jurisdictions in Chhatra district. According to officials, the police had been pursuing the Rahul Dubey gang since a gun attack on a private outsourcing office in the Koylanchal region weeks earlier. Acting on a fresh lead, the force set up a perimeter and began a house‑to‑house search. When the gang members realized they were surrounded, they fired at the officers. The police retaliation hit Vikas Kumar, who was immediately apprehended despite his injury. He was taken to a government hospital for stabilization and later moved to a tertiary care centre for comprehensive treatment.
