Infrastructure Projects Prioritized Amidst Manipur Violence

During a security coordination session chaired by Chief Minister Yumnant Khemecha Singh, the state government reaffirmed its commitment to accelerate infrastructure development despite recent outbreaks of violence. Delegates from NHIDCL, the Home Ministry, and senior police leadership discussed the need to protect ongoing road and bridge constructions in the wake of attacks across Jiribam, Tamenglong, Khangabokpi and Noney districts.

The meeting noted that six women and ten other civilians, mostly belonging to the Kuki tribe, were killed in recent clashes. A separate encounter in Churachandpur saw two United Kuki National Army militants killed and two injured.

NHIDCL officials confirmed that all contractors have prepared action plans to speed up work over the next six months, aiming to mitigate any setbacks caused by security concerns. The Chief Minister assured that the administration would extend any necessary security assistance to keep the projects on schedule.

The final directive called for continuous monitoring of sensitive zones, rapid deployment of additional forces where required, and close liaison with local community councils to safeguard both the populace and development initiatives.
