Infal‑Dimapur‑Guwahati Route Reopens, Bringing Relief to Northeast Travelers

Travelers in India's northeast have a new reason to rejoice as the Infal‑Dimapur‑Guwahati bus corridor resumed operations after more than three years of inactivity. The route, halted since the May 2023 ethnic unrest in Manipur, now sees two buses and five wingers moving a combined 125 passengers.

A senior official from the transport department explained that the state governments have been working tirelessly to restore calm and normal life, and the reinstated service marks a significant milestone in those efforts. The buses crossed Kangpokpi district, predominately Kuki, and Senapati district, predominantly Naga, without any security issues.

Local leaders highlighted the broader impact of the reopening, noting that reliable inter‑state transport is essential for trade, education and healthcare access across Manipur, Nagaland and Assam. The renewed link is also expected to boost tourism by offering a safe and affordable travel option.
