Industry Veteran Kuku Kohli Dies from Sudden Heart Attack

Bollywood’s veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli passed away on Tuesday, 25 August, at the age of 77 following a sudden heart attack. The director, best known for launching Ajay Devgn with the blockbuster "Phool Aur Kaante," left an indelible mark on Hindi cinema.

Friends close to the family clarified that Kohli had no known serious ailments. He experienced a massive cardiac event, was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, but could not be revived.

Ashok Pandit, a longtime associate, posted a heartfelt message expressing sorrow and highlighting Kohli’s contribution to the industry. He also conveyed his condolences to Kohli’s spouse, actress Aruna Irani, and their daughters Karisma and Pooja.

The body will be laid to rest for public viewing at Green Acres, Lokhandwala, at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The cremation ceremony will follow at Oshiwara Cremation Ground at 10:30 a.m.

Beyond directing, Kohli held prestigious positions such as General Secretary of the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association and Secretary of the Indian Film & Television Directors Association.
