11 Suspects Marked in Indore Cheating Case, Two Held
A cheating case in Indore city has led police to identify 11 suspects, while two main accused have been arrested so far. The arrested individuals are Dilip Pandey and Shubham Sharma.
Police acted after a complaint was lodged in the case. Dilip Pandey was the first to be arrested. On the basis of details obtained during his questioning, officers conducted a raid at the office of 'The Rapid Investors'. Clues recovered from there are now guiding the investigation into the roles of other suspects.
During the probe, 11 associates of Dilip Pandey were identified. The list includes Shubham Sharma, Ahmed Raja, Bharat Bhushan, Naresh, Vijendra, Amit, Ramandeep, Narendra and Yogesh, besides others. Police have arrested Shubham Sharma as well. The role of the other identified accused is under review.
From the accused, police seized 20 SIM cards, 17 mobile phones, a laptop and other important papers. These items are being checked to learn about the methods used in the cheating, the contacts maintained by the accused and other persons linked to the case.
Six bank accounts, holding over one crore rupees, have come to notice during the investigation. Police are now studying the deposits, transactions and sources of money in these accounts. Officers are also trying to find out where and in what manner the money obtained through the alleged cheating was used. The probe is being conducted in detail.
The analysis of seized gadgets, documents and bank transactions may bring more revelations. Investigators are also examining the role of the other identified suspects and the possible wider network.
Indore DCP Aman Rathore said the police are carrying out a continuous operation against suspicious bank accounts, which are called mule accounts. On Monday, he said, police received information that an office was operating in Princess Skype Business Park in the Vijay Nagar police station area.
The DCP explained that the firm's license is only for advisory services. This means it can advise investors on where to invest, but it is not licensed to take money and invest it itself. He said the company, named 'The Rapid Investors', was created by Shubham Sharma, who is originally from Satna.
When police raided the premises, six mule accounts were found there along with passbooks and cheque books. Dilip Pandey, a companion of Shubham Sharma, was allegedly responsible for supplying these mule accounts. Investors' money was collected through them. The operators showed some profit at the beginning, and later told investors that their money had been lost.
