An IndiGo ATR flight operating from Tuticorin to Chennai successfully landed at its destination on Monday afternoon after pilots discovered a crack in the aircraft’s windshield during its descent. The flight, carrying 75 passengers, was immediately under the watchful eye of air traffic control as the crew followed standard safety protocols. Upon detecting the issue, the pilots promptly alerted Chennai ATC, leading to a local standby being declared at the airport as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, the aircraft touched down without any further incident, and all passengers disembarked safely. IndiGo confirmed the safe landing and stated that the aircraft would undergo necessary maintenance and checks before returning to service, emphasizing that passenger and crew safety is their utmost priority. This incident follows a similar occurrence just four days prior on another IndiGo ATR flight from Madurai to Chennai, prompting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to review both cases and investigate potential systemic issues with the fleet.
