Indian Army Secures Tuition Discounts for Soldiers' Children at Top Medical College

New Delhi, 2 September — The Indian Army has formalised a partnership with the Dehradun‑based Combined (PG) Institute of Medical Sciences and UIHMT Group of Colleges to lower tuition costs for the children of serving and former army personnel. The MoU stipulates special fee reductions for eligible students, including those whose parents were killed in action. This financial assistance aims to make higher education more accessible for military families, offering them a clearer route to degree programmes.

The initiative reflects the army’s dedication to the holistic welfare of its members, extending beyond the battlefield to address education and livelihood concerns. By cutting tuition expenses, the agreement is expected to improve enrollment rates among soldiers' children and help them achieve academic success.

The statement also mentioned a recent Air India‑Army collaboration that resulted in 58 job offers, particularly targeting women veterans and their dependents. Training in aviation and airport operations has already been completed by a cohort of 16 individuals, who are now employed. These complementary actions demonstrate a sustained focus on empowering defence families through both academic and professional avenues.
