India's voter list revamp sparks debate as TR Srinivas targets illegal entries
The Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll has become a flashpoint in Indian politics after BJP leader T.R. Srinivas raised allegations of fraudulent names being added in Hyderabad and other pockets of Telangana. Speaking to journalists, Srinivas praised Asaduddin Owaisi’s outreach to the public for enrolment and clarification of doubts, yet he insisted that the same campaign should help purge illegal voters. He appealed to Owaisi to join forces with the central government and the Election Commission in conducting a systematic clean‑up. Srinivas stressed that while no genuine citizen’s name should be erased, the presence of fake entries could skew election outcomes. The leader also touched upon the ongoing Ram temple controversy, accusing the Congress of turning a religious issue into a political weapon. He called for all stakeholders to adopt a non‑sectarian approach and ensure the electoral process remains fair and transparent.
