India‑Uzbekistan strategic partnership deepens on Modi’s fourth trip

On 29 August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on his fourth official visit to Uzbekistan, a two‑day mission that signals the growing strategic partnership between New Delhi and Tashkent.

Modi’s itinerary includes high‑level discussions with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev focused on expanding trade, attracting investment, boosting digital connectivity, and enhancing defence and energy collaboration. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a joint vision of economic growth and regional stability.

The prime minister will also pay homage at the Shastri Memorial and Mahatma Gandhi Centre housed within the State University of Oriental Studies, landmarks that embody the longstanding cultural ties between India and Uzbekistan.

Following the Uzbek visit, Modi will travel to Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 26th SCO summit in Bishkek, marking the organisation’s 25‑year anniversary and reinforcing India’s role in promoting peace, security and development across Central Asia.
