India Offers Capacity Building Support to Mauritius Coast Guard

Admiral Swaminathan highlighted India’s readiness to fund and conduct specialised training programmes for the Mauritius National Coast Guard. The proposed curriculum covers advanced navigation, maritime law enforcement, and search‑and‑rescue techniques.

In addition to training, India will explore options for supplying modern surveillance equipment and fast‑response vessels. The goal is to elevate the operational readiness of Mauritius’ maritime forces to meet emerging security challenges.

The initiative aligns with New Delhi’s broader strategy of strengthening defence ties with Indian Ocean littoral states, reinforcing a collaborative security architecture across the region.
