India’s Progress Linked to Women’s Freedom, Says Rahul Gandhi

In a candid video released on X, Rahul Gandhi argued that India’s future prosperity hinges on granting women unrestricted freedom of expression. He described the current situation as a bottleneck, where women’s creative and political energies are stifled.

Gandhi emphasized that empowerment is not limited to economic or political arenas; it also involves everyday freedoms such as walking safely on streets, questioning family elders, and voicing personal opinions without fear. He warned that without these basic liberties, the nation remains incomplete and backward.

The leader’s message aligns with the ongoing debate over the Women’s Reservation Bill, a constitutional amendment that reserves 33 percent of seats for women in the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, and the Delhi Assembly. Gandhi’s call for unconditional support from his party adds momentum to the legislative discussion.

Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, praised Gandhi’s stance as a sign of positive transformation within Congress, expressing optimism that the party will now back the reservation bill wholeheartedly.
