India Launches National Mineral Mission and Nuclear Energy Plan

The Prime Minister turned his focus to strategic minerals, announcing the launch of the National Important Minerals Mission. The initiative aims to secure the supply chain for minerals essential to high‑technology production. India has already declared several mineral corridors and is finalising agreements with multiple countries, signaling growing global confidence in India's role as a reliable partner for critical resources.

In parallel, Modi addressed energy security, describing nuclear power as a cornerstone of India's clean‑energy future. Following the passage of the "Peace Act" in Parliament, the government set an ambitious target of achieving 100 gigawatts of nuclear capacity by 2047, with five new reactors slated to come online within the next decade. These measures, he said, are vital to powering the data centres, AI platforms, and digital infrastructure that will drive India's next phase of development.
