India Honors Freedom Fighter Jatindranath Das on September 13

The nation observed September 13 as the martyrdom day of Jatindranath Das, a member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association who died after a 63‑day hunger strike demanding rights for political prisoners. Union Minister Manohar Lal, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Finance Minister Pankaj Chaudhary and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta all issued statements praising Das’s self‑less sacrifice. They recalled his birth on October 27, 1904, his role in the anti‑colonial struggle, and the massive turnout of more than five lakh people at his funeral, cementing his place in India’s fight for freedom.
